Your privacy is our priority. Whatbot is designed to keep your data local and secure. We believe your conversations are yours alone.
Data Collection
Whatbot operates entirely within your browser. We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, we do NOT use:
- Analytics or tracking scripts
- Cookies for tracking purposes
- External servers for data storage
- Remote account or user databases
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API. This includes:
- Your account credentials (stored securely)
- API keys you provide
- Generated summaries
- Your preferences and settings
"This data remains on your device and is never sent to our servers because we don't have any servers."
Third-Party Services
When you use the summarization feature, your chat messages are sent to AI providers (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) for processing. This connection is made using YOUR personal API key.
"We never see or have access to this data. The communication happens directly between your browser and the AI provider."

Whatbot requires the following permissions to function:
Data Security
We take security seriously:
- Passwords are hashed using SHA-256 encryption
- All data remains local to your browser
- You can delete all data by uninstalling the extension
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible to you
- Deletion: Uninstall the extension to remove all data
- Export: You can copy your summaries at any time
Children's Privacy
Whatbot is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
